Work It Out! Sports camp is a camp designed to teach kids aged 9-12 about physical as well as mental health. Rock It Out!

Rock it Out Poster 2017

Rock It Out! is a two week summer rock camp for kids living in Manitoba aged 12-17. The rock camp is designed to encourage an environment where kids, particularly those at risk or affected by mood disorders can experience a sense of community as well as develop peer relationships.

She Wore Flowers in Her Hair is an event in support of mental health awareness, in honour of Jaedra Winter. This event will take place on June 3rd, 2017 from 12-5 P.M. at Kelburn Estates (1293 Kelburn Rd.). Ticket price includes access to all activities, lunch provided by Pony Corral, and a rubber wrist band! All proceeds will be donated to the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba. Hope Benefit Concert

Winnipeg Youth Chorus & Margaret’s Choir present HOPE a benefit concert for MDAM on May 24th 2017 at 7 pm at the Centennial Concert Hall. General Admission is $25 and student admission is $15. To purchase tickets visit the Winnipeg Youth Choir website.


Shoppers Run for Women

The Shoppers Drug Mart’s Run for Women is an annual event held in support of women’s mental health. This year the event will be held on May 14 2017 at Leo Remillard in Winnipeg. The Run for Women will hold a 5K run/walk, 10K run/walk and little steps 1K run/walk. Little Steps will begin at 8:30am, followed by a warm up at 8:55pm with a 10K start at 9:15 am and a 5K start at 9:30 am. Money raised in this event will directly support women’s mental health programs offered at MDAM. Mother’s Day Community Event

Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery will be holding a free community event this Mothers day (2nd Sunday of May) at 2:00pm at the Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main St, West St. Paul. The event will include a memorial service, prize draw, a charity bbq and more. All proceeds will be donated to MDAM. Manitoba Opera Mental Illness, Suicide & The Media

MDAM presents ‘A Window to the Mind’ presentation conducted by Professor Brian Lithgow. Professor Lithgow will discuss a new technology entitled Electrovestibulography as well as the associated research. This presentation will be held on April 3rd 2017, at 7-8:30pm at the MDAM office (100-4 Fort St.)


Get Your Art On!

Get your Art on

Get your art on is a 90-120 minute art program composed of 10 sessions, which run every Thursday beginning November 3rd 2016 from 6-8 pm at the MDAM office, 4 Fort St. This program is intended for youth grades 9-12 and no experience is necessary. To register please visit the Inspire community outreach website. There is no charge for this program.


Baby Blues and Better Days

Voices of Angels

MDAM presents the 8th Annual Voices of Angels concert and fundraiser. This event will be held on March 17th & 18th at the Watson Arts Centre in Dauphin MB. Tickets are $15 for one evening or $25 for both evenings. Tickets are available at the Watson Arts Center or may be purchased by contacting Eleanor at 204-638-7278.


Save the Date 2017 In the Mood Gala

MDAM’s annual In the Mood Gala will be held on Saturday, February 25 2017 at the Hotel Fort Garry Grand Ballroom. Tickets prices include $200 for an individual, $275 for Patron and $1600 for a Corporate table. Money raised this year will be used to provide education and support for youth, parents and those living with depression. Nutrition & Mental Health Course

There are many who live with a variety of health conditions that can lead to a variety of mental health conditions such as depression, generalized anxiety disorder, eating disorders and others. Stress, certain medications and a variety of ‘triggers’ or sensitivities to ingredients in some of our foods can also create problems with an individual’s appetite, weight loss or gain and other issues that can worsen their nutritional status and impact the overall mental health of that individual in the long run. This is a one-day session that provides insight into the importance of healthy eating habits and behaviours as part of the overall treatment plan for everyone- especially those who are living with a mental health condition. It is offered on January 14 2016, 9am-4pm at a cost of $25.

The Rotary Club of Winnipeg partnered with Chicken Delight presents the 65th annual Chicken Fest held on May 10th. Chicken Fest is a Dine-In or Take-Out Lunch delivery program designed to support local non profit organizations. The lunch is priced at $17, and the form can be downloaded here. MDAM is running a new youth program over spring break called the Work It Out! program. This program is designed to give kids a safe space to work on specific skills, which will help increase their physical and mental performance in sports and everyday life. The program will also educate kids on mental health issues through presentations and group discussions. The program is for kids aged 10-14 and the cost is $50 for four days (March 29th-April 1st). November 10th Thank you to the University of Winnipeg for hosting a movie night in support of MDAM. About 20 people came out on November 5th at 7:00pm for a Lived Experience Movie Night. movie night ticket


October 20th- Thank you to the Shoppers Drugmart in Tuxedo, for choosing us as their charity of choice for the Shoppers Drug Mart’s Tree of Life fundraising campaign.

Each fall, the campaign provides customers with the opportunity to purchase and personalize a Tree of Life icon, which are prominently displayed on the Tree of Life in all participating stores. Make a difference by purchasing a “leaf” for a loonie, a “butterfly” for $5, an “acorn” for $10 or a “cardinal” for $50.


November 5th Thank you to the folks over at Fukumoto Fitness for choosing us as their charity for their 5th Annual Pumpkin Charity Workout! They raised nearly $1500. Check out their recap of the event.

 

 


September 10th- MDAM was honored to be a part of the “Queer and Present Danger” Comedy Show, put on by the talented Chantel Marostica. All proceeds from the show were donated to MDAM and we were there all night with information on mental illness to offer to guests of the show.
