The Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba offers a variety of workshops in-order to successfully educate individuals on mental illness and addictions and co-occurring mental illness. Our workshops strive to successfully equip individuals with the necessary tools required to provide help or assistance to those in need. Each workshop is facilited by a MDAM employee or volunteer with lived experience of a mental illness or addiction.
Workshops
Cognitive Behavior Therapy with Mindfulness
Cognitive Behavior Therapy with Mindfulness (CBTm) aims to help individuals to uncover and alter distortions of thought or perception in order to change their behaviour and emotional state. The objective of CBT is to teach individuals the building blocks of self-help recovery.
The Cognitive Behavior Therapy workshop is offered during the span of 4 weeks. The course outline is as follows:
Class 1: healthy thinking and thought testing
Class 2: facing fears through exposure
Class 3: sleep and healthy living
Class 4: anger management, assertive communication, and problem solving
Registration is $20. Please note participants are required to register for the workshop and attend all 4 sessions. Participants who have not registered for the workshop are not permitted to casually drop in on any of the sessions.

Mental Health First Aid Basic
MHFA Basic is intended for adults interacting with adults (18 years and older). This courses focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance related, mood related, anxiety and trauma related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces. A certificate upon completion of the course will be mailed out to participants. Registration is $100.
Please note participants are required to register for the workshop and attend all 4 sessions. Partipants who have not registered for the workshop are not permitted to casually drop in on any of the sessions.

Mental Health Peer Support For Community Leaders
Provided by MDAM to address very real mental health issues, this training will build your capacity to listen, reflect and support those who need it most. The goal of this training is to provide you with the concrete peer support skills you require to work with individuals and groups.
In this workshop you will:
- Learn new peer support skills
- Develop self-awareness and self-reflective practices
- Identify ways to encourage inclusion, foster belonging and cultural competency in your groups, relationships and your community
- Gain essential skills to address mental health challenges

Peer Support Group Facilitation Training
This training will build your capacity to engage, support and organise a group of your peers!
In this 5 hour training, you will:
- Share Peer Support group facilitation skills
- Learn new ways of engaging and addressing expectations with your peers
- Develop self-awareness and self-reflective practices
- Identify ways to encourage inclusion, foster belonging and cultural competency in your group
