The Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba offers a variety of workshops in-order to successfully educate individuals on mental illness and addictions and co-occurring mental illness. Our workshops strive to successfully equip individuals with the necessary tools required to provide help or assistance to those in need. Each workshop is facilited by a MDAM employee or volunteer with lived experience of a mental illness or addiction.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
MBSR is an approach to self-care that can assist in managing stress, pain and illness. It was first introduced to the medical community by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, who ran a pain clinic at the University of Boston Hospital. The practice of mindfulness is used to help people learn to focus awareness on body sensations, thoughts and emotions in a non-judgemental way. In this workshop, participants will gain and practice skills to improve their ability to let go of the past, worry less about the future and live more fully in the present. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is offered over the course of 4 weeks. Registration is $30.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy with Mindfulness
Cognitive Behavior Therapy with Mindfulness (CBTm) aims to help individual to uncover and alter distortions of thought or perception in-order to change their behaviour and emotional state. The Cognitive behavior therapy workshop offered during the span of 4 weeks. The objective of CBT is to teach individuals the building blocks of self-help recovery. Registration is $20.

Cognitive Behavior with Tina Holland
Cognitive Behavior with Tina Holland is a 6 week workshop designed for those interested in furthering thier education on CBT and gaining additional skills to manage thier mental illness. Participants will learn to accept they have a mental illness, which is interfering with their ability to live a complete and meaningful life. As well as learn new and valuable skills to effectively deal with their mental illness and live a productive and managable life. Registration is $40.

Mental Health First Aid
MHFA Basic is intended for adults interacting with adults (18 years and older). This courses focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance related, mood related, anxiety and trauma related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces. A certificate upon completion of the course will be mailed out to participants. Registration is $100.
10 Week Brene Brown Shame & Shame Resiliency
This workshop focuses on shame and shame resiliency through a 10-week period. Individuals are educated on shame, vulnerability and empathy. This workshop provides an opportunity for individuals to learn about themselves. Registration is $75.
