The Mood Disorder Association of Manitoba offers Indigenous programming and services. The online talking circle gives people a chance to offload any stress and concerns in a traditional setting. The talking circle starts with a smudge and ends with a tobacco offering. MDAM also has a Monday Morning Smudge to start the work week off in a good way with a clear mind streamed live over Facebook. MDAM also offers one on one support through a traditional lens for individuals who need a space to breathe, decompress, and be heard.

Things to do in Manitoba on National Indigenous Peoples Day 2023

National Indigenous Peoples Day is Tuesday, June 21. It is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Our Lands”. Here are some ways you can celebrate today:

National Indigenous Peoples Day @ WAG-Qaumajuq

Visit WAG-Qaumajuq on National Indigenous Peoples Day for a day of Indigenous art education and evening concerts! Family-friendly workshops will be located in Eckhardt Hall and Skylight Gallery from 1-5pm. In the afternoon they’ll have drop in tours of the exhibitions on view at 1pm and 2:30pm. Refuel with lunch at Katita Café! Then finish the day with a rooftop concert featuring live performances from Brandi Vezina, Victoria Turko, DJ The Kaptain. The event is family friendly and will have a jigging contest and free snacks! Free with admission, admission is always free for Indigenous folks!

The Nistumee Neepinee Keesikow Concert will span the genres and spotlight 20 Indigenous artists from Manitoba along with a DJ playing music by Indigenous artists between sets, food vendors, and crafts by Indigenous artisans.
