Online Peer Support Room will be launched 5 minutes prior to the group meeting time.
*Please note that groups do not operate on statutory and government holidays
To keep the online support group a comfortable, safe, and inviting place for all, we require participants to abide by the following guidelines. These are reviewed with the group at the beginning of each meeting.
The facilitator may sign you out of the meeting at any time if you are noticed to be breaking the following guidelines:
What is said in the meeting, stays in the meeting
What you hear should be kept confidential and this must be respected by all participants. Our Online Support Room is open to all, so please be aware.
Your opinion is welcome, however, no racist, homophobic, sexists comments will be tolerated.
We are all entitled to our own point of view.
Use "I" language
Share from your personal experience, say "this is what helped me" or "when I was faced with this problem, I ..."
Its OK not to share
People do not need to actively participate; much can be gained by just listening. You also do not need to turn on your video/web cam to participate.
Its everyone's responsibility to make the group a safe place to share
Kindness and respect for others and their mental health is paramount.
One person speaks at a time
Each person should be allowed to speak at a time. Please listen to your facilitator.
No one person should monopolize the group time.
The group leader may interrupt you
This is to keep the meeting on track and within the timeframe of the meeting.
